Alfa Yarraville is where it all began. In 1998, brothers Chris and George Xanthis opened the first Alfa with a clear goal: serve proper food and coffee people would return for. Raised in their parents’ bakery, they learned early the value of old-school hospitality; early mornings, hands-on prep, and regulars who never needed to order twice.
That original shop shaped what Alfa is today: a community space, a kitchen that doesn’t cut corners, and a team that feels like family. Out back, the park section under the elm tree is full of families, dogs, and kids playing with colourful blocks, a one-of-a-kind seating.
Alfa Seddon opened in 2015 as our second store, just a few blocks from where it all began. We built it to keep up with growing demand; more locals, more coffee, more of what people loved about Alfa. The menu expanded, the kitchen grew, and the team came into its own.
Unlike Yarraville, Seddon runs full table service. It’s a bustling spot, especially on weekends, with regulars, families, and friends gathering for a proper sit-down brunch. It holds its own identity while still carrying the heart and rhythm of the original.
Alfa Whitten Oval opened in July 2024 inside the Mission Whitten Oval; home of the Western Bulldogs. It’s a one-of-a-kind spot overlooking the field, with front-row views of the players training just metres away. You’ll often see footy players filtering through for their morning coffee or lunch between sessions.
On game days, the café transforms into the main food and drink stall for the entire stadium, serving fans throughout VFL, AFLW, and community matches. Whether you’re there for the game or just dropping in, it’s a venue that brings footy and food together like nowhere else.
